Achara is a coastal village in the sindhudurg district of malvan taluka in maharashtra. this destination consists of 12 villages and is a native place of chitpavan community but the most population in here is from the bhandari community.
Achara village is famous for its pristine beach which is popularly known as a virgin beach that has beautiful backwaters, water sports activities with Dolphins and other marine life in it along with mangrove covered habitat.
Cruising along the secluded beach you can also view varied species of birds that migrate on particular season and also indigenous birds like the peacock. On the right side of the beach, there is a hill where Achara lighthouse is situated. Sunset is captured along with lighthouse on this beach; amidst the view to die for.
There is a Rameshwar temple located in the center of the village near Achara beach which has a huge courtyard and self-immersed Shivilingam in the inner sanctum. At the entrance of this temple, there are sculptures of doorkeeper which dazzles its visitors and makes them anxious to take darshan. Ramnavami, Padva, and Ganesh Utsav are the famous festivals celebrated in this temple. There is also a vintage library situated for book lovers near this beach which is more than 115 years old.
This place is also gifted with artists like Ustad Vasant Acharekar (a tabla expert), PT. Bhargavram Acharekar (a vocalist), and Padmashri M.R. Acharekar, an artist, and film director.

Kudal is the nearest railway station and from there you go by road which takes 1 hour 30 minutes to reach to Achara. Dabolim, Goa is the nearest airport for Achara. There are various buses available which have drop and pickup service to this destination. One can also take a private vehicle or taxi to reach this destination.
